Overview
We are seeking a dynamic self-starting professional to serve as a High Risk Interventionist (HRI) for the Scaling Safety initiative. Scaling Safety is a first-of-its-kind initiative, spearheaded by Alliance for Safety and Justice (ASJ) and CBPSC aimed to support cities to scale up effective community-based prevention, intervention and crisis response programs and integrate these prevention strategies as complementary to existing public safety efforts. This is a contracted position requiring 30 hours per week at a rate of $35,000 per year.

Under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager, this position will respond to incidents of violence or impending violence, communicated through personal connections, intelligence provided by other community members, the police department or from other reliable sources. The goal of the HRI is to prevent violence and repair relationships between people involved in violence without relying on arrest and incarceration. The HRI engages with outreach staff working in the field; connects with victims of violence in hospitals and trauma centers; and connects victims and families with support services. Because a crisis can happen at any time, during their shift, the HRI must be available by phone to receive and screen telephone calls 24 hours a day or secure coverage during off-hours.

Duties​

To identify and vet non-traditional leaders in the community to intervene and mediate conflicts between individuals and rival groups involving individuals in the city via Safe Passage and High Risk Intervention.

To increase access and awareness for residents of both system and community-based service providers for victims/survivors of violence through advocacy and public educational forums.

Gather community intelligence after a homicide or act of violence to develop a comprehensive strategy to prevent retaliation.

Respond to crisis calls daily from the community via dispatch or other notifications.

Complete incident and follow up report(s) on any and all intervention performed and submit to the project manager.

Attends, and satisfactorily completes all required training as assigned by the organization.

Participate, Lead, Support community walks.

Attend all staff meetings, Public Safety Round Table and sanctioned events.

Requirements
This is a contracted position, 100% remote, and will require 30-35 hours per week. Some travel may be required for retreats, site visits, and in-person training.
