Healing the Healers | Training and Technical Assistance
Community members are the most valuable assets of the violence prevention and intervention work. The lived experiences of CBPS professionals often includes exposure to incarceration and proximity to violence that produces lasting psychological and emotional wounds.

CBPS work often requires professionals to relive their trauma by sharing their stories, serve people who are experiencing trauma like their own, and in some instances even work in the same areas where they have experienced harm.

The trauma and vicarious trauma experienced by those doing the prevention and intervention work requires continued healing support that must be built into the organizational culture and fabric of any CBPS organization and should be a priority for funding.
